Metro Theatre presents Arsenic and Old Lace, Joseph Kesselring’s beloved 1941 comedy, from April 4 to 26. For fans of old Hollywood charm with a dash of devilish dark humour, it is the perfect theatrical treat.

This laugh-a-minute classic expertly balances light and dark with an eccentric cast of murderous old ladies, an inebriated plastic surgeon, a Boris Karloff lookalike, bumbling cops, a delusional Theodore Roosevelt, and two hapless young lovers caught in the chaos.

Arsenic and Old Lace originally premiered at the height of the Second World War. It earned rave reviews and was adapted into the iconic film starring Cary Grant. Eight decades later, it remains a staple of regional and community theatres across North America.

Directed by Catherine Morrison, this production features a 14-person cast, including Michelle Collier and Sheila Keating as the hilariously wicked Brewster sisters.
